I would like to learn more about swordarts, specifically the smithing of katana.

I have heard about a great seminar in Canada, but was wondering it there might be someone in Oregon / Pacific Northwest / etc.

If you haven't read it already try: "The Craft of the Japanese Sword" by Leon and Hikoko Kapp, Yoshindo Yoshirhara. Tons of information with good illustrations to get a better idea of what is being discussed.

    Hi Fred,
There are some very good smiths in your area working on Japanese blades. You can search ABANA (the artist blacksmith assoc. of N. America) or ABS (American bladesmith society).

Are you looking for books or people?

Jim Hrisoulas' book on knofe froging is very good and goes into how katana were forged.

    Good luck,

    Christian
